FAQ:

Who is H.P. Lovecraft?
Howard Philips Lovercraft was a 1920's horror fiction writer and your all 'round intelligent, shy and socially inept nerd. God luv 'im! He started the notion that there are slimy, multi-tentacled, evil-beyond-human-comprehension aliens that basically regret accidentally starting the human race. Such troublesome creatures, humans are!

What is 'Pickman's Model'
"Pickman's Model" is a short story by H.P. Lovecraft of an artist named Richard Upton Pickman. He used a ghoul as a model for his rather life-like, macabre paintings.

Who's in charge around here?

"Below the thunders of the upper deep; Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea, His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee About his shadowy sides: above him swell Huge sponges of millennial growth and height; And far away into the sickly light, From many a wondrous grot and secret cell Unnumber'd and enormous polypi Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green. There hath he lain for ages and will lie Battening upon huge seaworms in his sleep, Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die."

RE-INTRODUCTION
"The EOD is so big that the sun will never rise on it,we will always dwell in a true eternal night."Cousin Helen Vaughan
How esoteric are we? Well, if anyone is claiming to be esoteric on the Internet they are not very esoteric at all. If we say we are not the Esoteric Order of Dagon (not to be confused with the Exoteric Order of Dagon, or the Eldritch Order of Dagon) we could be lying and really do posses terrible and arcane inside knowledge, which we have preserved, maintained, and expanded upon by our group effort as a body of Initiates, comprising our Order, these Initiates having become knowledgeable via the Transmission of Occult Sciences whose linage can be traced back to the Deep One Onanes in 10,000 BCE. Unlike so many other cults we profess to hold a secret science which is falsifiable via the eldritch scientific method know as the Methos, given to us by the fish like Seerer/Rishi on the dark beach so long ago.

As the Ecclesiastical Order of Dagon we are united in a very informal way, a community under unholy rule, we don't require solume vows. We are ecclesiastical in the Greek meaning of the word, or Ekkalein (Hebrew Qoheleth) to Call Forth. This Ex-Kalein to call out is derived from our Ecclesiastical Scripture Call of Cthulhu

What is an Initiate in the EOD has a very broad definition indeed, but its simplest meaning, with reference to the EOD, is anyone who has had a direct contact, whether it be waking, or in dream, with the same forces which tormented and inspired our Prophet Ech Pi El, peace be unto him. The Esoteric Order of Dagon as a Secret Society, not unlike the Ton Ton Macoute or Bizango, that is doesn't worship the Loa or god like entities of the Mythos, but whose membership and the energy which abides in that membership is the EOD’s object of worship, and this energy some call the Lovecraftian Psychopomp. Also the Esoteric Order of Dagon is an association of Dark Visionary Artists, Surrealist Poets, Magicians from innumerable magical orders, geologists, xenobiologists, astrophysicists, marine biologists, alien alchemists, Mulas of Dark Sufi Orders, politicians occupying high levels of government, The Illuminati, grade school teachers, janitors, drug addicts of otherworldly substances, Madmen, mentally defiant genius, gutless zealots, perverts with the most obscure passions...all exploring the connection between the visions of H.P.Lovecraft and the actualizing of these visions with techniques Methos 37. Also we coordinate the larger Exo-Lovecraftian Studies by which one investigates vast areas of interest; one can not find a mythology in anytime, place, or culture which doesn't have a big ugly semi divine entity under the earth or in the sea and there is also our parent org "Cults of Cthulhu" which is the binding force between various tribal societies spread out through out the world and can be found everywhere and in the most obscure parts of the globe, comprising mysterious arcane orders, dreadful covens, decadent churches, sinister synagogues, masks which mask unspeakable secrets. We are everywhere and nowhere...Iä!! Nyarlathotep!!!!.

Hi! We're a Lovecraftian writing club, who are looking to interact with the art community by using Lovecraftian art as previews for the lit deviations in our gallery (full credit and links to the artist of course). We're trying to affiliate with Mythos-mad art clubs -- drop us a line if you're interested. We start uploading to the revamped gallery on March 28.

Love your club, btw. :)

I know Lovecraft stories and of the Mythos but unfortunately I have yet to find the Mythos to purchase and I've lacked the money to buy a book as of yet! But..could I still join if I do know most of what is in it? I've also, not as an insult, parodied the Mythos,Chtulhu, and Yog-Sothhoth?

you'd like the "Dark Corners of the Earth" Call of Cthulhu game then -- you basically get to play through the Shadow Over Innsmouth, with some neat twists.

Haha! Love H.p. to no end, but unfortunatly the area in which I live is very isolated and very religious, and see lovecraft's stuff as satanist, or pagan, or something other than christian. So, The library only holds 1 book of his, and it's always checked-out, and the bookstores are no help.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: Does anyone have a link to where I could read his public domain stories?
